What the AI Overview checker shows

  • Whether Google shows an AI Overview and an AI Mode answer for your search, in the country you choose.
  • Every source the answer cites, and whether your site is one of them.
  • The brands and businesses the answer names, in order.
  • A note when Google shows no AI answer, which is common and never counted against you.

Check your whole category, not one search

One search is a snapshot. Paste your website and we ask several questions your customers ask, through AI Overviews and AI Mode plus ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and show how often you're named, with sample sizes.

Make sure Google's AI can use your pages

AI Overviews and AI Mode only cite pages Googlebot can crawl and index, and that allow snippets. Run the AI crawler checker to confirm Googlebot isn't blocked and your homepage has no noindex or nosnippet directive.

AI Overviews FAQ

How do I check if my site appears in Google AI Overviews?

Search the question yourself in a private window, from the country you care about, and look at the sources listed in the AI Overview. Results change by location, wording and day, so one manual check is a weak signal. Our free audit runs several questions through AI Overviews and AI Mode from your market and counts how often you're named.

How does Google choose sources for AI Overviews and AI Mode?

Both are built on Google's search index, so a page has to be crawlable by Googlebot, indexed and allowed to show snippets. Google then picks pages that answer the question directly. Pages that rank well, are clearly written and come from sites Google trusts are cited most.

Can I block AI Overviews but stay in Google Search?

Only partly. Google says nosnippet and max-snippet controls apply to AI Overviews and AI Mode as well as normal snippets. Blocking Google-Extended doesn't remove you from AI Overviews; it only covers Gemini training and grounding.

Why does AI Overviews show for some searches and not others?

Google decides per search. Short navigational searches rarely get one; questions and comparisons often do. Availability also differs by country and language, and AI Mode isn't launched everywhere yet.
