Enterprise AI visibility platform buyer's guide (2026)

A practical, vendor-neutral checklist for marketing, SEO, security and procurement teams choosing an AI visibility (GEO or AEO) platform. It works for any shortlist, ours included.

Last reviewed 7 min readBy the Glossy Data team · how we measure

Key takeaways

  • Judge measurement quality first. AI answers vary between runs, so ask every vendor how many answers sit behind each number and how they separate a real change from noise.
  • The IAB's August 2026 framework calls measurement decision-grade only with enough queries, all four intent types, weekly or better sampling and a disclosed method.
  • Security and procurement usually decide the deal: SSO, SOC 2, a DPA, sub-processors and payment terms. Ask for them in writing on day one.
  • Run a two-to-four week pilot with your own prompts on every shortlisted tool, then compare the numbers and their ranges side by side.

What an enterprise AI visibility platform does

An AI visibility platform repeatedly asks AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google's AI features the questions your buyers ask. It records which brands they mention, recommend and cite, and tracks that over time against competitors. Vendors call the category GEO (generative engine optimization), AEO (answer engine optimization) or AI search monitoring.

Enterprise use adds scale and governance: many brands, markets and languages; several teams and agencies; single sign-on; and a contract your security and legal teams can approve. Gartner's 2026 market guide lists the features it treats as mandatory, including multi-platform coverage, citation analysis, competitor analysis, alerts and an API for business intelligence tools.[1]

1. Measurement quality: can you defend the numbers?

This is where vendors differ most and buyers check least. AI engines don't return the same answer twice. A SparkToro and Gumshoe study of 2,961 AI responses found less than a 1 in 100 chance that two answers listed the same brands.[2] Kevin Indig found only 2.2% of citations stayed stable across three runs.[3] A single run per prompt is a snapshot, not a measurement.

The IAB's August 2026 guidance on measuring visibility in AI separates directional measurement from decision-grade measurement. Decision-grade needs at least 50 queries, all four intent types, weekly or more frequent sampling, a disclosed method and reproducibility ranges.[4] Practitioners agree this is the hard part: measuring AI visibility reliably was the top challenge in the SEOFOMO 2026 survey.[5]

Questions to ask

  • How many answers sit behind each number on the dashboard, and is that shown?
  • Do you show a range or margin of error, and how is it calculated?
  • How do you decide that a change is real rather than normal variation? Do alerts account for it?
  • Do you collect answers from the consumer apps, the developer APIs, or both, and is each answer labeled?
  • Is the method documented publicly, and can we reproduce a number from the raw answers?

Few vendors publish this. Evertune documents a high-sample method[6]; Profound has argued that one capture a day per prompt is enough for aggregate trends.[7] Our own approach is on our methodology page, and our Honest Score shows the sample size and a 90% range on every figure.

2. Coverage: engines, markets and languages

List the engines your buyers use in each market, then check which ones each plan includes, not which ones the vendor supports somewhere. Many vendors ration engines, countries or languages by tier, or sell them as add-ons.

  • Which engines are included on the plan you'd buy, and which cost extra?
  • Are prompts written natively in each language, or translated from English?
  • If an engine isn't available in a country, is that reported as "not checked" or as zero?
  • Can you track several countries in one project and compare them side by side?

Glossy Data includes ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude on every paid plan, in 49 countries, with native question packs in 7 languages. See markets and languages.

3. From numbers to action

A visibility score is only useful if it tells you what to change. Look for citation and source analysis at the URL level, competitor share of voice by topic, and a way to see whether a fix worked. Gartner lists optimization suggestions among its mandatory features, and Forrester argues the category will be won by tools that deliver outcomes, not dashboards.[1][8]

  • Can we see the full answer text and every source each engine cited?
  • Do you show which third-party sites drive competitors' visibility, so we know where to earn coverage?
  • Do you re-measure the affected questions after a change, and report the result with its range?
  • Do you flag wrong facts about our brand, and how?

4. Security, legal and procurement

Security review is where many AI visibility evaluations stall. Ask for these documents at the start, not after the pilot:

A minimum enterprise checklist. Mark each as yes, planned (with a date) or no.
AreaWhat to ask for
IdentitySAML or OIDC single sign-on; SCIM provisioning; roles and permissions
AssuranceSOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 report; if neither, a security pack and questionnaire answers
DataWhere data is processed and stored; retention and deletion; whether personal data is collected
LegalDPA, sub-processor list with change notice, standard terms, liability caps
OperationsAudit log, uptime commitment, incident and vulnerability disclosure process
CommercialPrice for your scope in writing; term, renewal and cancellation; card, invoice or PO

Requirements differ between vendors more than their marketing suggests. In our research, SOC 2 Type II was standard among the larger enterprise vendors, but not universal, and none offered an EU data-residency option.

5. Pricing and how you buy

Most enterprise AI visibility vendors don't publish prices, and public evidence puts single-brand contracts roughly between $25,000 and $100,000 a year. Our AI visibility platform pricing guide collects every public figure with its source.

  • Ask for the price as answers per month (prompts × engines × countries × runs), so offers compare like for like.
  • Separate software from services such as onboarding or managed programs.
  • Check minimum terms, auto-renewal and what happens to your data if you leave.

Glossy Data Enterprise starts at $30,000 a year at a published price, with an instant quote and online procurement. See the enterprise AI visibility platform page for details.

6. Run a fair pilot

Demos show the vendor's best case. A pilot with your own prompts shows yours. Two to four weeks is usually enough to compare tools.

  1. Write one prompt set. At least 50 questions across the four intent types, covering your key products and markets.
  2. Give every vendor the same set, engines and markets, and the same competitors.
  3. Compare the ranges, not just the scores. Two tools can disagree and both be within normal variation.
  4. Spot-check the receipts. Open ten answers in each tool and confirm the extraction is right.
  5. Score the vendors on a weighted sheet agreed before the pilot starts.

Our free AI visibility RFP template has the requirements, the questions above and a scoring sheet in one file. You can also start with a free check of your own brand, or open the live demo dashboard to see every screen with sample data.

Red flags

  • Rank positions ("you're #2 in ChatGPT") from a single run, with no sample size.
  • ROI or lift figures without a sample, a baseline or an interval. Ask whether they come from a modeled study.
  • Engines or countries counted as covered when they are sold separately or not yet live.
  • A security answer of "enterprise-grade" without the report or document behind it.
  • Claims of special access to an AI engine's ranking. Google says no third-party tool has access to its AI systems.[9]

Frequently asked questions

Software that measures how AI engines mention, recommend and cite your brands across many markets, with the governance large teams need: single sign-on, roles, audit logs, a DPA and contract terms security can approve.

Yes. GEO, AEO, LLM visibility and AI search monitoring are used interchangeably for tools that track brands in AI answers.

Two to four weeks with at least 50 of your own prompts is usually enough to see how stable each vendor's numbers are and whether the extraction is accurate.

It depends on your policy and the data you share. Most tools only collect public AI answers, but your security team may still require SOC 2 or a completed questionnaire.
